Wayne Koehler originally founded the company in 1976 as Koehler Land Surveying, Inc., a one man land surveying operation. Now Koehler Engineering & Land Surveying has become the largest multi-discipline engineering, planning, land surveying, and materials testing firm in the Cape Girardeau area.

 The principals of Koehler Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc. are all family members who wear the Koehler name proudly.  The expression, “when your product wears your name, you care more about it”, certainly applies to the way we feel about every piece of work which leaves our firm.

 According to this principle, we also endeavor to hire and train all of our employees to exhibit the same philosophy.  Our employees are well trained, equipped, compensated, and are provided with a comprehensive benefits package.  By doing this we help to ensure that our employees feel a great sense of pride in their place of employment, which carries over to their work.  This creates an atmosphere which helps to ensure employee retention, increasing productivity and product value to our clients.

 We also feel it is essential to keep up with current technological trends to remain competitive in today’s business climate.  The state of design practice is changing rapidly, and all of our technical employees receive periodic continuing education, both on-site and at industry and/or professional seminars.

In addition to keeping our people on the cutting edge of industry practice, our company’s equipment and computer technology should remain current and state of the art.  The median age of the technical computer workstations in our facility is less than 18 months, and all versions of design software we use for site engineering, transportation, hydrology and hydraulics, surveying, testing, and structural analysis are maintained at the most current version.  Our survey crews are outfitted with the latest in technology, including robotic total stations, Trimble GPS equipment, direct measurement electronic distance measurement devices (no prism required), digital levels, and electronic data collection, editing, and processing equipment.
